Nugos Per Halvarsson

This
picture has a story of its own. It belongs to a series of photos
I took on
the same occasion.
I came to visit Nugos Per after I had been down to Falun to
borrow a fiddle I maybe wanted to buy. I came walking as Per
met me on his bicycle. He didn't know of my arrival, because
there was no chance to tell him in advance as he of course didn't
have a telephone. When he saw that I carried a violin case he
threw his bicycle on the side of the road and before he even
had time to say "hallo" he said "take out the fiddle, let's
see if you have 'the right strings'!" And he started playing
right on the spot, totally absorbed and oblivious of my presence.
I had also borrowed an antique Pentax camera with no automation
at all, not even a light meter. As Per stood there, I ran around
him taking one photo after another. Despite the primitive circumstances
I later found out that these were the photos of my life.
Behind him is the basket
I bought in Tunisia.
